Estate Sale Finds......
Well I also stepped into one of America’s most wanted closets lasts Thursday! I found myself in a gigantic closet , more like a small bedroom, filled with breathtaking vintage pieces. Everything from true Victorian and Edwardian era apparel to 40s and 50s day dresses to cool 80s wear. This post might sound like something you've already read last Friday!
I actually made it to the sale on Thursday morning at "dark-thirty" since it was too early to even mention the real time!! hehe! But the key to finding great pieces at any estates sale is to be the first in line but there can be one disadvantage by being there on the first day… they might not budge on their prices so it's best to go back on the second or last day.
Well guess what?!! I was at the exact estate sale as the gorgeous Kristin @ Leproustvintage and she couldn't have said it better!!! So she read my mind and I guess you can say great minds think alike or maybe it's because we share a common interest!
@Kristin: That little floral peach dress that you're going to wear to a wedding in the spring? I can say it was destined for you cause that dress was in my hand then I decided to put it back along with others that were a little beyond my budget. I can't wait for spring just so I can see it on you! I'm sure you'll look stunning!
I also ran into another vintage lover by the name of Aria @ loveroffashion while standing in line and we hit it off right away check out her blog!!
Since many of the pieces I would have liked to buy were priced pretty well over my head I only purchased one tea dress from the 1930s that I didn't have the time to photograph. I also went to another sale that day and found those lovely dresses shown above & below which I will list on etsy this week. I think this post might be the longest that I have written so far
P.s. Once again I have been working my little fingers off on some cool boots on my little corner ebay shop starting this Thursday at 9:00pm central time.

Love the two tan/peach and flower embroideries dress and the red/black with bow!
Estate Sale seems to be the perfect place for great finds. I'm ashamed to say that I have never been to one! I think I would need tricks to find them... or simply maybe their aren't the same thing in Canada.. Oh well ;)

@coco: Estate sales are great but there's nothing like a church sale cause there are times it's fill up a brown bag for five bucks but then again you have to be there pretty early!
I've never been to an estate sale, either! And now I live in a place where it's simply not done, due to the transient nature of life in the islands. But...I will look for one next time I'm traveling to the US.
Getting up at "dark-thirty" paid off in heaps for you!!! Some darling dresses here. I could see a couple of them with a wide belt, and some cute and funky Chie Mihara shoes. (Do you know of this designer? I think you'd love her shoes...vintage-y with a cool, semi-trendy vibe. Lots of rounded toes and chunky heels, plus pretty detailing.)
ah, what an amazing weekend! these finds are extraordinary.
That sounds like an absolute dream come true. All of the dresses are wonderful. Even to be around such a vintage trove would be nice. Congratulations.
It was great to meet you at that estate sale! I won't even talk about how much money I spent at that one, but I got some serious pieces!!!
great finds - love that bold red dress =)
FAB!!!! Oh my gosh! How funny! My mom was staying with me last week, and we were out and about all day on Wednesday, and got a late start on Thursday! We had intended to be there right when it opened, and due to my unfortunate sleeping in, we didn't end up being there until 9:30. I am so sad to think we almost ran into eachother! :( I would have loved to have met you!
When I started to read your post, I KNEW it had to be the same sale....then sure enough! Too funny! Wasn't all of that vintage INSANE?! I mean the house was just stuffed with things!
All those dresses are fantastic finds. I keep meaning to go to an estate sale...

I would love to have all of those dresses, what a fun day!
My that sounds like such a fantastic day! I must admit, though I've been to tons of thrift stores, yard sale, flea markets and the like, I've never been to an actual estate sale. Post such as this, laden with fabulous finds, really prove that I need to get on the estate sale band wagon at once! :)
Thank you very much for your lovely comment on my Christmas poodle skirt post, sweetie. I agree, it would be terrific if whoever wins that skirt posts a photo of herself wearing it.
Wishing you a marvelous Monday & week ahead!
